Janine, I love these poses and need work on all but mountain pose. When I was younger I had excellent balance and would stand in tree pose when I was working as floral designer. My co-workers all called me a flamingo. Oh, to be that bird again...
Lol! I love that! Balance poses are some of my favorites, probably because of my dance background. Balance is one of those "use it or lose it" things that we get to enjoy as we age.
It's amazing how much more challenging it is when you rotate the head in a different direction. It seems so innocuous, but it can be so much harder! I love that pose.
"All yoga poses connect to other poses in some way or another. Maybe it’s in how you hold your arms, or how you stand; there are guiding principles in all poses we do."
I love this idea of connection between all poses and all movements. All connected through the core - like the hub in the center of a wheel.
I am also excited that now I have another pose to write about... Airplane Pose.
I love that poem, Corie. Mountain pose is so simple, yet so deeply important to any yoga practice, or really just standing as a human. The power and stability you gain is unmatched, imo. Thanks for sharing your beautiful words! I look forward to your poem on Airplane pose!
This is really great Janine! Balance poses are great. Mountain and Tree are my favorites. I do them daily. So good for balance.
So good, Daria! Balance is so important as we age. You gotta use it or lose it!

I love the half moon pose- haven’t done it for a while. I like to turn my head and look to the side to see if I can maintain balance. Sometimes I can!

Lastly, here is my poem for Mountain Pose, which honors the essence of your teachings: https://coriefeiner.substack.com/p/i-need-to-stand-in-mountain-pose?r=1vl0c8
