Despite all the tools I learned and the knowledge I have about TCM and Qigong, I am thrown out of balance when life keeps me so busy that I have to choose between sleeping or doing some xyz (pick freely from qigong, meditation, walking, reading, writing...). Maybe because I experienced insomnia and burn out in the past, that sleeping is of the outmost importance. Rationally I know that meditation and qigong would actually increase the chance of a good night sleep, but when the clock hits 11h30 pm or 12 am and I am still sleeping, my brain tells I need to go straight to bed! I know I have to find a different routine to allow more space for myself.
Yes, sleep is incredibly important. I would always prioritize sleep. Maybe there is something else that you are doing that you could trade for 5 minutes of Qigong or meditation. Sometimes we get it in our heads that we need to practice for 30-60 minutes, but even 5 minutes can make a difference in how we feel. Might be something to ponder.
My biggest challenge and learning experience this year was keeping firm boundaries. I knew I was a people pleaser but I did not realize how far that extended until I had a lot of people wanting to stay with me for extended periods. I had a hard time saying no, and therefore ended up with too many guests taking up too much of my time and a less productive year than I wanted. I am walking into the new year with a determination to BE FIRM in saying no, and not feeling bad about it.
Yes! Boundaries are so hard when you aren't used to keeping them. Also, other people who are not used to you saying no might push back. That's their problem. Stick to your "no" and give yourself what you need. You deserve it!! Thanks for sharing Elizabeth! 💜
It just so happens that I appreciate and am grateful to you as well. Thank you for not giving up and continuing to push on with your writings.
Thanks Jack! I appreciate you continuing to read my writing! 🙏💜
