I read this again. I cried a few minutes ago and I felt guilty but I was not numbing the pain so I guess I was doing something right;)

Emotions are meant to move. That is a fundamental insight, Janine. No wonder we feel like they are swirling around inside of us. If they can't get out, they'll keep moving around inside. In our nausea. And our thoughts. And our panic. This is so helpful, thank you!

I'm glad it resonated! Emotions are energy and they need to go somewhere.

I love this Janine! So wonderfully expressed and explained so clearly - it makes so much sense and your childhood sounds very similar to mine 😔 Thank goodness we now feel able and safe to express our feelings, rather than pushing them down. I too turned to food and TV as a child/teen and I still turn towards that "safe place" sometimes even in my mid-forties! 🙄 I often talk to parents about the importance of allowing their children to feel ALL the feelings, even if it is uncomfortable and difficult, it is VITAL for their future emotional wellbeing! 🧡

So true! Kids who can feel their feelings turn into whole adults.
