After early depression left me with limp posture, I’m finally realizing the muscles along the spine are core muscles. The more I strengthen them, the more my posture returns to its original state. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us, Janine.
I love that you made that connection, Ryan. Gravity (and phones, computers, etc) pull us into a forward posture, as can grief and depression. Strengthening the spinal muscles allows you to hold a more vertical posture, which in the long term, will keep your neck and back from hurting. Thanks for sharing, Ryan!
A friend of mine, his father was cured in India, Doctors gave him a group of small balls placed in a box tied with a short trunk, they ask him to inhale them strongly as a good trading to his luang, since then I used to do this from time to time to keep my luang healthy. It is really a good exercise for luang.
Shoulder is much stronger, but still pain because of the bicep dislocation. Able to do fly now with 2 lbs. I am hopeful for plank against the wall soon!
Diastasis Recti will trash your core, for sure. Healing takes time, if ever, sometimes it stays torn. PT can make a huge difference, as you’ve experienced.
You can have insulation and strength! I’m right there with you!
Is 17 years too late for pt for that? lol. I've shoulder and knees pt. I have a mild- moderate one my pt said last year. She gave me exercises and they seemed to help. Less back pain. Woman's health care needs to be more proactive with that after childbirth. Other countries offer that. Don't get me started
Yep. No attention is on the mother after birth. I could rant. I feel a post coming. That would be a good post collaboration :) What do you think? Message me
I am always reminding my peeps that it’s like an apple core. Core muscles go all the way around! (And yes, six-packs come with various levels of insulation. You’ve got your basic styrofoam all the way up to a yeti 😂)
As someone who has all my fat distributed to my limbs, I can say it doesn’t mean much. You can see my abs. My hamstrings and quads? Not so much. Our bodies are all so different!!!!
A great explanation of the difference between core strength and visible abs. Of course we all want to look good, but I like being strong a lot more.
All of the core workouts I’ve done help me with running, too. Jogging for more than 15 minutes used to hurt in my lower back, but increasing my core strength fixed a lot of this.

Thanks, Janine. Thankfully, I don't experience back pain, but the roman chair and "supermans" on the floor are effective.

Yes, swimming is perfect. Agreed. But I don’t understand Ayurveda technique, once I press on it, it goes hidden.
Ayurveda is a traditional form of Indian medicine.
Thanks 🙏
Sounds like an Ayurveda technique. I find swimming also strengthens the lungs as you are exhaling against resistance.
What does Ayurveda technique mean?
Great sets of core yoga poses! The only one of these I am not doing now is plank because of my shoulder injury.
You could do it against the wall when your shoulder gets stronger, or you could leave it out completely. So many other exercises to choose from!

Good luck, Pamela! I know you will get there!
I am trying!
Thanks for these! Some I've tried and more here to try. My core has not been the same since I had my son 17 years ago - disasis recti (sp)
I was told I have a strong core in pt last year. I think it's stronger now even under my "insulation"

Omg, seriously. That and pelvic floor PT, I could rant all day. Better late than never I say! I feel like it's never too late.

I like that image! Yes, it goes all the way around. Nothing wrong with having some insulation!

You do what you can, Mitch. The door one is perfect!
I love it

Absolutely, and that's the beauty of having a human body. Each one looks different and building strength will also look differently with each person.

Thanks Tim! I will take strength and health any day over thin. If thin happens, fine, but I want a body that is functional.
