Love this Janine thank you for sharing with me! This is something I have embraced since 2019 when "stumbling" onto Autobiography Of A Yogi and then Surrender Experiment by MS. To me, surrender isn't giving up on life, it's giving up our existing idea of life! Opening ourselves to the unknown possibilities! I talk about this in my monthly Soul Circle gatherings and in my newsletters a lot. I recently recorded this podcast episode that I feel you'd really enjoy: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4WKJmfRqhRyOibYA4Ckp4A?si=a9abc294fecd486d

"When we talk about surrender in yoga, it’s not “I give up” but rather, “I give in. I will stop fighting and allow what is to be.” -As a poet working with the American-English language, I love this distinction. It makes all the difference.

It feels different in your body. I love tuning into how different words feel and how they differ. The body gives us a lot of information that I find incredibly useful.

I've been loving reading your newsletter. When I first got Into yoga about ten years ago (though I stopped practicing consistently too many times and would love to get that back). This was more the side I wanted to learn, not just as a way to "stay in shape". After working in a wellbeing centre with a woman who done energy healing swelling as others who worked on Chakras to angels. A good mix of different beliefs, respected. I miss being in touch with my spiritual side and your words remind me why it is important to me and that I have a lot more to learn. Thank you 😊

I know that feeling of suddenly realizing that I miss not knowing about my spiritual side, but being in touch with it.

Thanks Hannah! Yes, yoga is so much more than poses on a mat. We use the poses to tap into these other aspects of ourselves. I love exploring these concepts, although it's not always possible in a class due to time limitations. This platform is perfect for introducing these ideas so that we can further explore them on the mat and in our lives. Thanks for reading!
