I have had si joint issues since I gave birth to my son 18 years ago. Last Friday it was an excruciating stabbing pain. I am slowly getting better but I could barely move in a few days. My knee arthritis on one side is getting worse and I'm sure that's contributing to it

I'm starting pt this week for sacrum pain - that is non sciatic I'm told

The hips and knees are definitely related. Dysfunction in one will affect the other. Sacral pain is most likely in the SI joint, which makes sense from what you described. The pelvis can get completely whacked out after childbirth, where sometimes the bones don't realign quite right. If you happen to be loosely ligamented, this can be even more of a problem. Hopefully the PT will help.

Yes, the sciatic nerve is not necessarily related to sacral pain, and is usually felt more lateral to the SI joint. SI joint is typically felt locally, at the SI joint, whereas sciatic pain is more likely to travel to the buttock and potentially down the leg.

Yep. Sounds about right. My ligaments are loose and I've always been hyper flexible mobile. Not a good thing

We can get away with it a bit better when we're younger, but it definitely gets worse with age. Strength work is key for joint stability.
